This group of settings controls and shows configurations that are at the device level.
| Setting Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Clear Messages | Deletes all messages from your device. For FRAM-based devices, the entire message block is overwritten with zeros. For SD-based cards, the “delete” is less destructive, so it would be possible for the messages to be recovered by software tools…although they will remain encrypted. |
| Message History | Enable or disable storing of message history. If you disable it, your messages will not be saved to FRAM or SD. |
| Screen Timeout | Inactivity period before your display powers off. Clicking the trackball will turn the display back on. |
| Daylight Savings | Are you currently observing daylight savings time? The setting is manual in here, because the rules are different from country to country and can change at any time. Instead, you choose how you want to see (or not) DST. Under the covers, all timestamps are stored/transmitted as UTC, so this just controls what you see. |
| Time zone | Which timezone to you want to be displayed? Under the covers, all timestamps are stored/transmitted as UTC, so this just controls what you see. |
| Device ID | Your device has a hardware-based ID. This allows you to see that. |
| Uptime | How long your device has been running. If you suspect it is rebooting unexpectedly, this would be where to look. |
| Device Time | The current time of your device. It may be reported by GPS or an onboard realtime-clock, depending on your hardware. |
| Factory Reset | Deletes your keys/cluster/identty and starts over. It will also delete your device license, but if you own a license, you will be able to unlock with the same key you had before the factory reset. Note that you for SD-based devices, you are really “factory resetting” the SD card, since no state is stored on the device itself. You can effectively factory rest simply by inserting a blank SD card and restarting the device. |
